The Prius of Politicians

This is a good observation:

To understand where to go from here, we have to understand that Americans are in no way attached to Obama the individual, Americans are attached to the way Obama makes them feel.

It explains why, when Obama has to choose between tossing many (most?) of his campaign promises out the window and being blamed for betraying the movement, or keeping them and being blamed for the inevitable consequences, the knives will come out.

Nothing new here, of course, but the comparison in the post title, which I couldn’t pass up.

(Nuclear) power to the people

Wow!

Nuclear power plants smaller than a garden shed and able to power 20,000 homes will be on sale within five years, say scientists at Los Alamos, the US government laboratory which developed the first atomic bomb.

The miniature reactors will be factory-sealed, contain no weapons-grade material, have no moving parts and will be nearly impossible to steal because they will be encased in concrete and buried underground.

Just the sort of thing the crazy lefties around here would freak out about and try to forbid, of course.

(Ssshhhh! They must not have noticed…)

Looks like it’s time to get my drone on again

Ordered!

You can listen to what might be the whole thing here.

Sound bite

So, John McCain was joking around the other night:

He then launched into a point of contention in the Obama camp – voter registration.

“So, you know I have fun with the media. We all know that the press is really an independent, civic-minded and non-partisan group … like ACORN.

“In case you haven’t been following my opponent’s ‘Get Out The Vote’ campaign, ACORN is helping to register groups that were previously excluded, overlooked and under-served – second-graders, the deceased, Disney characters.”

I think it might be fun to coin a more succinct phrase for these under-represented voting blocks. If we drop the second-graders from the list, maybe we can start calling them the animated and the re-animated.

Heh.

The street (with lampposts) finds its own uses for things

Really, who cares what the vendor says the rope is for?

What could possibly go wrong?

Weren’t a bunch of goofs trying to get Arlington to pass a law like the one being abused here, just a couple of years ago?

Hey, was that…?

An hour or so ago I drove past an odd-looking guy walking down Garden Street in Harvard Square. Was that…? Yes, it sure was:

Heh.

Damn you, Weather!

That is all.

Excellent re-branding

…of one of the stupidest things I’ve heard of in quite a while, by the brilliant James Hudnall:

Obama’s Goatse Salute

This is the “salute” they want people to make when Obama appears. How appropriate. It’s exactly how everyone’s sphincter will look if his big government programs become a reality.

Zing!

He’s never sat for a portrait before

Thanks, Brian! Very cool.

Adventures in Web Development

Tyler: So, here’s the page with the email form. Not sure if it works, though.

Dan: Well, let’s put in a malformed email address. Like, I dunno, how about just “Douchebag”?

Tyler: OK, just “Douchebag” it is.

Tyler: Hmm. It accepted it. Guess it’s broken.

Brian: Hey! I just got an email!

(That Brian kid is hilarious!)

Lately I’ve been thinking

…that Dinosaur Jr. might be one of the absolute best rock bands, ever. I just don’t seem to be able to get tired of their music. And I play the shit out of stuff I like.

That’s it. Nothing earthshaking, sorry.
