I never get tired of watching rockets take off - and I'll always watch Shuttle on TV lifting off. I watched the 'Enterprise' drop test as a kid and God willing I'll be around to watch the last one launch in a few years.

I just want more _of_ them. I want the weekly launches. I want smaller and cheaper shuttles. I want frigging Pan-Am back in business and flying rockets to a commercial space station.

I don't recall seeing a junkie chic aesthetic so much as a guy who was really, really skinny and really, really ugly. And yeah, I never really listened to them much, but did buy that one album. The liner notes had thumbnails of all their other albums, and thus my assumption that you can be popular in your native England without anyone knowing who you are over here.

Other than disliking that song, I never really listened to them...but I remember being annoyed at the time by the junkie chic aesthetic of the lead singer, and of the simultaneous existence of the Verve Pipe which was all very confusing.

Well, I dunno - they've put out a ton of albums, haven't they? And I thought most of what was on Urban Hymns was good. I think that it's just that the wretched music biz doesn't know how to sell spacerock in the US, just shitty nu-metal and rap.

Wow, that's cool. I never knew about the controversy but it's no wonder the Verve faded into obscurity after losing the profits from their one semi-hit.

Sounds like it could just as easily have been an 80s hair band, too.

"That and he’s pointing it into a crowd of people.

Hey, Beard Dude - gun safety. Didn’t anyone ever smack you on the head when you pointed your weapon in an unsafe direction?"

It's SHOT show Bro. Weapon sweaping is somthing that happens there with as many people that are floating. It's avoided when possible but it happens. This is real life, yes even from a Mil, LE or Operaters stand point sweaping happens.

As far as the demo and the FMG9 pointed at the chest area. I know, could have been avoided. Sometime the rules have to be broken to show the best view during a demo.

I've been smack a few times in my day.

Well, I guess the idea here is, if you're getting all your income from a webhosting account, you pay the bucks required to get hosting that's as reliable as possible, and you think seriously about redundancy. You don't run your business off 30 cents-a-day shared hosting and complain like a bitchy teenager when uptime drops down to 99.98%. I'm sure liability is covered in the terms of service, and that you'd have better luck suing the government because a traffic jam on their roads made you late to your mcjob, costing you an hour of minimum wage money.

If dreamhost was going to, say, credit its customers for the downtime, they'd only have knocked 1.3 cents off my bill. Hardly worth the time to go to the status thread and write a haiku...

I wonder, if you were someone like Dooce or Kottke who doesn't have a job and relies on their blog for income, what the legal situation would be in a hosting outage. I'd guess there's something in the fine print that says you can't sue your host for loss of ad revenue...but who knows.

extremism follows newton's third law.
If the west is dealing with double standards with Islamic world (support for the implanted Israel , support for the corrupted Arab countries for Oil , ....) they should expect more people to hate them.
And , it is ignorance with Religion (Islam or other ) who might make and extremist to use violence.
Speaking of violence, dare to compare the number of civilians who were killed by Israel with the number of Israelis who were killed by Arabs ?

Yeah, I assumed it to be nonfunctional, but still makes me cringe.

The blog was lost to a system reinstall, and hasn't yet moved high enough on the priority list... It will be back "some day".
