Norin Radd

Although I didn’t much like the first one (it didn’t have much to recommend it besides special effects*), I’m hoping one can’t go wrong with Galactus.
* I know, I know. But still.

Not to sound like a fanboy, but…

Paul Pope has joined the blogosphere. Very cool!
(He’s got a Flickr account, too, which made me wonder - do Flickr photostreams have RSS feeds you can sub to? Why, yes - they do.)

Five and a half

Scott McCloud’s got his online companion to Making Comics posted.

Nine planets without intelligent life

Comic genius.
(via TJIC, on a great comic-finding tear.)
UPDATE: fittingly, I almost shat myself reading this one.

Pony express

I’ve just stumbled across Matt Bernier’s comics - they rock! He’s got a blog, and a gallery (be patient - deviantART doesn’t seem to be on the speediest webserver) where you can check out various pages of his work (“SKY WORM!!”).
I’ll be buying Potato Autopsy, at a minimum.
Also, his 24 hour comic on our atmosphere [...]

Coming (relatively) soon: another Frank Millah Thrillah

Check out the visually stunning trailer for Frank Miller’s 300.
I continue to be fascinated by the art of movie trailers. This one IS the movie, about as condensed as possible. In what felt like 20 seconds (I didn’t actually time it) it tells you everything you need to know right up front: that they’re going [...]

Manga Studio EX 3.0 looks pretty cool

I’m not really a manga fan, but any tool designed for drawing and laying out out pen & ink comics is probably worth looking into.
In related news, my copy of Painter IX has mysteriously stopped working, and re-installing doesn’t solve the problem. I’ve got a game of musical hard drives coming up soon, so I [...]

If I’m not going to do it, I may as well read about it

Scott McCloud’s got a new book out.

Damn you, dragonladyshop!

I was outbid on a set of three Corto Maltese books on ebay. Now I’ll have to buy just one book via Amazon for twice the price I almost got three for.
Sigh.

Blistering barnacles!

This guy has identified all the cars portrayed in Herge’s Tintin.

Oblelix G#*tse

From Boing Boing

Excellent comic

A lesson is learned but the damage is irreversable.
Utterly fucked up, totally excellent.

When the singularity arrives

It won’t only be people who benefit.

C’mon people - the underwear goes on FIRST

Paul Pope is slated to deliver BATMAN: YEAR 100, a libertarian-themed re-imagining of Batman in a dystopian 2039. I hate to slag on PP, but regardless of his assurances to the contrary, I’m pretty sure I read this already (don’t get me wrong - I’ll be buying it anyway). And surely the amount of [...]

Buzz Buzz

Hilarious!

(sent a link to the originator of the meme)

I got a fever

And the only prescription is… More cowbell! Amazing color!

This absolutely outstanding eye candy is from b. - who has a feel for color that I probably never will.

A lot of the faces are a little too big-eyed and manga-y for me, but I love the loose sketchy “hey, close enough” take on the typical continental [...]

The unstoppable Mike Mignola

According to Horrorchannel.com, Mike Mignola’s The Amazing Screw-On Head is slated to manifest as an animated feature on the SciFi channel. If they do this right, I’ll watch it, and maybe even forgive them.
I’d have a better image but I’m too lazy to find my copy and scan something.

The reason I stayed in the house all day

This is great.

…and also this, and this. No, wait - actually, the whole site is great.

Robot comics…

… but no Zetetic.
:(

Another reason to admire Paul Pope

So nice to read about a comics creator who’s not a raving socialist:
And how about this for libertarian coolness? In 1998 Pope wrote and drew a remarkable “what if?” story in “The Batman Chronicles” comic book. Pope created “the Berlin Batman” (by day Baruch Wane, wealthy Jewish artist in 1930s Berlin). This German anti-Nazi version [...]
