What I found so interesting in this article about arming DC police with semi-auto AR-15s is that when the press and the anti-2nd amendment DC government talks about getting guns of the street (translation: out of the hands of law abiding citizens), they love to use the term “assault rifles.” When these same weapons are in the hands of law enforcement, they become “semi-automatic rifles.”
I don’t even want to think of what’s going to happen when high velocity firearms are in the hands of questionably trained cops. This is such a bad idea on so many levels I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Another government answer to a non-existent problem.
A marine shoots someone who may or may not be a terrorist in Baghdad and we have congressional hearings and huge investigations, and careers are ruined. The same standards don’t seem to apply to law enforcement’s violence against our own citizens.
