So, this afternoon I spent some time sitting in a waiting room at Lahey Clinic, reading a book while waiting for my apppointment. It occurred to me that I started reading the book in the same waiting room, three weeks previous. I was a little chagrined that it was taking me so long to get through - but, I thought, in my defense, I am reading a couple of books at the same time (the internet has wrecked my attention span). That got me thinking of another book I’d like to be reading, a biography of a cartoonist from the 40s - I could think of the name of the book, the name of the cartoons, even what the guy looked like (having blogged about him before), but couldn’t, for the life of me, remember his name. “What’s his damn NAME?”, I thought to myself.
Then, a nurse walked into the waiting room and called out:
“Mister Caniff!”
So, if you see me - that’s what the tinfoil hat is all about.
