So, I was in the comic store picking up what turned out to be just one comic from my sub folder, when I noticed that Tony was playing a CD of some sultry-voiced French singers covering a PiL song. While we chatted a bit, more covers played: XTC’s Making Plans for Nigel, the DKs Too Drunk to Fuck and the Sisters of Mercy’s Marian.
(this is nice, too - which made me think of another great cover)
It was such an odd mix of funny and good, I had to order it. While doing so it occurred to me that I’m so out of touch these days, I have no idea whether I’ve stumbled into some little bit of obscure genius, or straight into heavy-rotation Top 40.
Which I guess is a good thing.
