The internet is made of tubes

I’m hugely amused by the fact that, after all this RIAA bullshit, lawsuits, the neutering of napster, etc., any song that I don’t own a legal copy of is available for me to listen to for free because armies of weirdos have put them all up (ie, “illegally re-published them”) on YouTube.

WTF, RIAA?

Here, by the way, is one of the coolest music videos ever made:

(aside to RB, if you’re reading - this is the guy who was the inspiration for some of the background stuff in WG’s Pattern Recognition: Cayce’s director-friend’s apartment had them lying around, leftover from a video shoot… but you probably already knew this!)

It occurred to me that an equally good title (for the video, anyway - can’t say I paid any attention to the song - I’m somewhat indifferent to Bjork) might have been “The Soft Machines”, which I was pretty sure was a WSB book. Turns out it’s the one where he appropriates the term “Heavy Metal” for pop culture (ie, in a drugs and music context), from whence, presumably, it found its way to Steppenwolf songs and Creem reviews.

Now I’m no prude, but I would have preferred less making out in that video. It’s creepy-like.

    Sorry!

Actually, this post is your sort of your fault. I should be directing my full attention to work, but I’ve been half-assing it for the last couple of hours, since reading your latest post: I followed the link to youtube, and that was it. I’ve still got about ten tabs open to various things of weirdness.

Just thank me for not sending you a link to the Boards of Canada vs. David Hasslehoff mashup I found! [shudder]

Not your work - and I only meant working half as fast as I should be working.

I agree, and I’m glad to have never seen such a sight.
