The Brits are ordering two new carriers.
As I see it, there is one major problem with this strategy, and that is, at a time when the English are cutting down on their fleet and support infrastructure, they are investing in two huge assets that require a deep support structure to be effective.
The strength of the US fleet lies not in that they have a large number of amazing powerful assets (carriers), but that they have the ability to send these assets anywhere in the world and operate them, continuously, for very long periods. As someone who has participated in a couple of underway refueling and replenishments, it is amazing to watch. American warships are truly limited only by the well being of the crew. I have the feeling that will not be the case with the British fleet.
