Assuming he can act a bit (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC73PHdQX04" rel="nofollow">how hard can it be?</a>) he'll probably be OK. We already know that Damon can play <a href-"http://www.imdb.com/find?q=bourne&sourceid=mozilla-search" rel="nofollow">a Vulcan</a>), but I don't know how he'd be as Kirk. That might be because he's famous enough that he'd bring some baggage to the role, though - which is why I think it'd be better to have relatively new faces.
