The Times of London did some amazing investigative journalism. They called ticket agents in three countries, and none of them new that BA had a carbon offset program (at additional cost). Their conclusion: BA is afraid that if people knew the real environmental impact of flying they would fly less, hurting BA’s bottom line. Comments on both the Times website and Consumerist seems to indicate the readers hold a different opinion:
I think it’s absolutely fantastic, good on BA for not jumping on the climate change band wagon. A wagon that has been renamed of late from global warming to climate change to suit the recent weather. Terrorism and Climate Change are just mechanisms to hasten government ideals, tax and the marginalisation of the middle classes.

Maybe they just realize the idea of “carbon-offsetting” is bullshit, so they are saving themselves the trouble…
I am sick of the eco propaganda that supposedly responsible companies peddle to their consumers, especially here in Britain. The idea that you can pay your way out of global warming is particularly idiotic. Next up - organic mineral water, made from the tears of free-range African orphans, and bottled in used biodegradable tissue paper.
carbon-offsetting is the “indulgence” of our generation. how do we avoid global warming/purgatory? with money!
I love the global warming issue as created by academic grant beggars and the silly elitist media. People just aren’t buying it. Or better yet, just don’t give a shit.
