Racist imagery “found” in 1931 comic book!
The Commission for Racial Equality has labelled a Tintin book racist and criticised a high street book chain for stocking the title.
The CRE says Tintin in the Congo makes black people “look like monkeys and talk like imbeciles”.
It has called on Borders to remove it from sale due to what it deems offensive content.

Props to the CRE for resisting the temptation to call for a nice, cathartic book-burning. Props to Borders for telling them to fuck off.

They can pry my Tintin’s from my cold, dead hand!
Yeah - mine, too. Although I don’t have this one. I saw some coverage of this over at Samizdata, too, and Perry linked to both Amazon US and UK in case anyone wanted to get it, and noted that of the two, only Amazon UK had the stones to show the cover image.
I have heard similar charges for “Tintin and the Blue Lotus” dealing with the “Yellow Menace”
What wussbags.
