Tammy Bruce observes that polls show Congress’ approval rating at an all-time low, and makes a suggestion:
I suggest we pass legislation (or change the Constitution if necessary) which would require the ‘firing’ of all members of Congress in the event their approval rating dips below 15%. In other words, if 85% of the American people have No-Confidence in Congress (with duplicate polls indicating the same number), new elections are immediately called, campaigning is limited, and the Feds put together an election within four weeks. They can shut the Eff Up and just do it. Existing office holders can re-run, so we can re-elect the good guys.
I suggest we up the ante, in case it discourages people who lack the courage of their convictions (or lack convictions altogether) from running for office in the first place. I can think of two ways to do this - individually, and collectively.
- When a Congressperson’s approval rating hits 15%, that congressperson’s head is removed and stuck on a prominently displayed pike near one of the more heavily trafficked routes into the city. And, to penalize the voters who elected such an unpopular legislator, the seat in question will remain empty until the next regularly scheduled election. Or maybe the one after that.
- When Congress’ approval rating hits 15%, we decimate them. Fifty-four randomly chosen legislators get the pike treatment, and their seats stay empty until the next election, or the one after that.
On a related note, I wonder what Congress’ all-time high approval rating is? 20%? 25%?

Hi, you can delete this afterwards, but I just wanted to post my response to you from the post in “TJICistan”. All my comments there have disappeared, and it doesn’t let me post anything else, so I’ll just give it directly to you.
