Bit the bullet last night and upgraded to openSUSE 10.2. Slightly nerve-wracking since I couldn’t really afford to have the box out of commission should anything go wrong, but it went like a charm. Two problems and one “problem”:
- Something odd happened to Samba, I can’t reach the SUSE box from my windows box anymore, so I’ll have to take a look at that.
- Amarok won’t play MP3s, I assume by design (it’s called openSuSE, after all) - I’ll have to take a look at that. While the atoms of my CD collection are slowly replaced by Flacc-flavored bits, I’ve got a lot of net-junk and podcasts in MP3 format.
- Clicking on links in my RSS reader no longer launches Firefox (it doesn’t do a good job with formatting, so if I need to know what’s blockquoted or whatever, I often launch FF).
That last is a “problem” rather than a problem because I waste too much time reading blogs as it is (your blog isn’t a waste of time, though - your blog is great) and anything that makes blogreading more of a pain in the ass is probably a good thing. To preempt the predictable comments, yes - I know my blog posting is a waste of time, too.
Hmm. Will probably waste some time doing some font-tweaking, too.
ps - the version of Amarok that ships with 10.2 is really something.
