No one is made at all uncomfortable by acknowledgment of the contributions of evolutionary biology to the behavior of men. And yet, one’s wanderings through the MSM could easily give one the impression that women are unencumbered by base nature, allowing them to exist solely in a political context. IOW, female behavior is either portrayed as in harmony with particular political goals, or in a state of waiting to be liberated from oppression in order to then to fall into a state of natural harmony with particular political goals. Almost nowhere have I run across the sort of examination of the origins of behavior that “benefit” men (though perhaps I just don’t get out enough).
Via Colleen Doran, a study that suggests women are as guilty of holding each other back as men are of keeping them down:
FORGET “jobs for the boys”. Women bosses are significantly more likely than men to discriminate against female employees, research has suggested.
The study found that when presented with applications for promotion, women were more likely than men to assess the female candidate as less qualified than the male one.
They were also prone to mark down women’s prospects for promotion and to assess them as more controlling than men in their management style.
The findings, based on experiments carried out among more than 700 people, suggest that the “queen bee syndrome” of female rivalry in the workplace may sometimes be as important as sexism in holding back women’s careers.
On the phenomenon of “Female Status Cannibalism” in the military, Colleen relates:
She said, “The need for a sense of egalitarianism among women is so strong that when a woman stands out in any way, the group which one would expect would have been supportive of her will turn on her and bring her down. Anything to maintain the status quo.”
The kind of thing that unmakes University presidents… Fascinating! Colleen even links to the Amazon page for a book written by women about female behavior, on which a female commenter alludes to the fact that the book admits men & women have different brains. They must all be a bunch of gender-traitors. ;-)

To get all sociobiological, maybe 10 women sitting around the campfire can all be peers, grinding corn, and sewing hides, but out on the hunt, the 10 men work better if just one of them is calling the shots… ?
Hmmm - so, the default state of people is to be crazily procrustean in groups, but men had a need for leaders of the same gender and thus adapted? Interesting possibility…
