Sorry, I dunno what that was about - but it looks like it’s displaying again. OTOH, I don’t allow bandwidth theft, so you’d have to link to the page and not the image itself.
Is it fucking fucked up? Or Fucking McFuckity messed up?
See the former implies that you are rather common but by switching around the cuss words and being creative with your swears (see the latter sentence above for a minor example) you can be seen as an intelligent fellow with an opinion worth listening to.
I agree it’s not the sort of comment that impresses, but on the other hand I do a fair amount of blogging like I was brought up in a barn around here, so one can’t exactly fault Jas for thinking it’d be OK.
Brian, I wasn’t disapproving - you can always say anything you want here - it’s just that, in a fit of honesty, I had to admit I couldn’t give him the hard time about his language that you could, without being a bit hypocritical.
;-)
The thing that’s “racist” about 300 is that the protagonists are the only ones with white skin.
Historical context be damned, it’s unacceptable to portray whites as anything other than villains. The world has been going downhill since whitey stole airplane technology from its ancient Egyptian inventors 5000 years ago. Or something. I dunno. I just know my skin color makes me evil, because everyone in the media and on the left tells me so.
I haven’t seen the movie..but historically the Greeks were destroyed. I don’t know if the ending here will be different from the reality. The Persians one and took it over.
Greece has historically been conquered countless times..the Romans took many of their cities, the Persians, even the ancestors of the Mongolian Huns conquered parts of Greece.
Maybe we’re reading different history books. Sparta and Athens united and beat off the Persians. Athens went on to form a sorta-kinda empire and pushed Persia back from the Aegean.
Greece never was united - the Sparta - Athens alliance fractured and fifty years later they were at each other’s throat. Later the barbs from Macadonia ended up owning the entire kit and kaboodle.
But the Spartans DID keep Persia from conquering Greece and allowed them to pass their civilization to the West, via Rome.
This fuckin’ blog is fucking fucked up! But I must admit, I never had a desire to watch 300 until now. Oh and come on people. You have to be straight, White, healthy, educated and in between the ages of 18 - 40 to be truly considered EVIL. Kill whitey!
I just watched about half of this movie and its so far blown out of proportion that its nowhere near in touch with the reality that its supposed portray. I couldnt even watch the rest of it.
This is an incredible story, but anyone would be well advised to pick up a book and read a closer account of the battle. Its more entertaining believe me.
… And possibly then we may have less people making ridiculous comments about racism and statements such as “The Persians one and took it over”
@Hellraiser - well, what did you think you were watching? A documentary? It’s a movie based on a comic book that was in turn inspired by both actual events AND the 1950s movie inspired by actual events. So, naturally you’re a couple of removes away from reality.
I’m not sure if I agree with your advice, though. If someone is actually interested in something and wants to learn about it, they’re far better advised to go read a book about it than see a movie, yes. But if they’re looking for easy entertainment, well… that’s one thing that movies, when done right, can provide (which isn’t to say that books can’t provide entertainment, just that you’re saying the movie wasn’t realistic, and that’s not necessarily a required component of entertainment. Star Wars wasn’t realistic, either, but it did manage to entertain a lot of people).

Or, of course, snag the photo and host it yourself, which you can do now that it’s displaying again.

Sounds like Jas has never heard of Triumph of the Will or The Birth of a Nation.
Dff,
My apologies. Your blog, I”ll leave the house keeping to you. In my defense, no one ever breaks open the potty mouth on my blog. I’m jealous.
Also .. I’ve watched the first 50 or so minutes of ‘300′ tonight. Excellent flick. I’m not sure - exactly - what is racist about it.
