Amen brother

I signed up for the online list for my hometown when I was living abroad . It got old fast.

The town used to be filled with Irish and Italians (and a few Greeks), a nice mix of blue and white collar. It has since been invaded and captured by socialist (pseudo)intellectual failures who can’t afford to live in a nearby university city. And man, do they love the list.

Dissenters on the list have slowly moved on, understanding that its all a waste of time, and that the best punishment for these “progressives” is allowing them to live under the government and society they want to create.

Many of the list members include quotes in their signatures - usually some new age nonsense - Yanni, or Yoshi (Whatever), or some “Educator”.

Saw one today that shows that maybe there is some sanity left in town:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a
war is worse. . .

A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing he cares
more about than he does about personal safety, is a miserable creature, who
has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of
better men than himself.
