“Too much f*cking perspective”

Cool

More than just a cool toy - it’s an artifact

I have been a fan of steampunk since The Difference Engine came out. I’m sure that these will be a bit too expensive, but man they are cool. The velvet lined cases and cleaning tools complete the package. I wonder what would happen if you tried to take one of these through [...]

Bush exposes himself to Wal-Mart Patron

That’s how the NYT would have reported this. Of course the suspect’s name is Dale Bush.

Major suckage

I’m afflicted with sub-par mail services yet again. I imagine the thinking at dreamhost went something like this:

Moore’s law! Free software!
????
Profits!

My suggestions for 2: sufficient quantities of employees who know what they’re doing.
Because, you know, the underpants gnomes they’re relying on to run things now things just aren’t up to it.

No juice!

I know I just blogged about this, but: Comedy gold!

Non-attendance at a non-event

I was still a bit under the weather last night so I didn’t go out to see the Non-event Alog (if you’ve got flash you can listen to some of their music, and check out the great video I lifted the above screencaps from) and Red Horse show. Also, Susanna supplies a podcast featuring some [...]

That’s right, Chapter 7 - Cyrus Daboo eats punks like you for breakfast

A dead mailing list twitches:
Hi folks,
Finally, after much effort, I have regained the rights to Mulberry and am making it available for free as of today. See:
http://www.mulberrymail.com
Some things to note:

It is free to anyone - no registration codes needed.
A new v4.0.5 version is available on the website. This simply removes the registration requirement and updates [...]

Uh oh

Apparently someone has made a movie based on my 4 years in Germany.

Yes I Can If Frank Sinatra Says Its OK

Actor Bruno Kirby passed away on Monday from complications from leukemia. Tommy Pischedda was one of my favorite characters in Spinal Tap. The DVD contains a couple of extra scenes with Tommy- including him singing “My Way” in his underwear.
Bummer.

Our new Magickal Generation

Andrea Harris:
[...] Laved in self-esteem from the cradle, the young enter the world convinced they can turn lead into gold. No situation or experience in life was supposed to be too disgusting for the Brave New Good People to transform — shacking up, spawning bastards, cursing, blasphemy, heresy — these became “living together,” “unwed motherhood,” [...]

Wondermark

Totally excellent comic (click image for larger version).
I just read about a hundred of them, and downloaded about 20, unable to decide which to post. Finally, I decided I’d stop reading, and just post the one I was looking at. Of course, it took another ten minutes to stop reading.

New printer?

I was going to get a laser printer for my home office, but I think I’ll get this instead.

Affordable villains lair

We’ve talked about Swiss bunkers, old Soviet sub bases and abandoned missle silos. Available in Washington state is a house for under $600K sitting over a four story bunker with secret passageways and 3 ton blast doors all built by a previous owner. It sucks living in an area with bedrock a few [...]

Rackham

Via Drawn, a repository of scans of paintings by one of my favorite artists, Arthur Rackham.

Kewl Tewl

AirportMonitor allows you to track all flights up to 100 miles out from certain airports. For security reasons its on a delay, but they have the past 3 months of flight data available. If you click on the planes, flight data, type of plane, etc. pops up. Flight data does not appear [...]

Right up there with the grizzly-proof suit

Some jackass has built a car he intends to try to use to film inside of a tornado. I sense a Darwin Award Winner in the making.

What’s your technique?

Today I was asked by a female co-worker to guess her age. I did what I usually do when any woman asks that question- take what I think is her real age and subtract 5 years. That is a sliding scale- 5 years works till about age 44, then it’s increased. I [...]

An important reference site

Unthirsty will tell you when and where all the happy hours are in any area of the US. Of course it doesn’t matter in the People’s Republic of Massachusettstan because lawmakers, looking out for our best interests of course, decided that we should have to pay full price all the time if we want [...]

Hong Kong, and a strange obsession with cats

Another cool photoblog. Check out the photoalbums there, too.

Talk about a lack of proportional response!

Those damn Israelis have bombed all the color out of Beirut!
I mean, really, NYT - what the f*ck?
