V for Vendetta is opening on March 17th, and they’ve got two good trailers up that suggest that the Wachowski brothers have been more true to Moore’s script than we’re used to seeing in comic adaptions for the big screen.
I note that this (presumably hollywood) movie featuring a crazy western terrorist blowing up western gov’t buildings and assasinating officials will, of course, be opening in the Middle East, too. It’s reasonable that our entertainments should feature members of fictional societies extremely similar to ours but afflicted by the sorts of governing ideologies we fought in WW2 and we’re currently fighting now in the Middle East, directing their energies at the overthrow of their own governments - it’s perfectly consistent, and demonstrates that the enemy meme is the enemy meme, regardless of the race or culture it attaches itself to.
I wonder how many leftists / rightists / islamofascists / other idiotarians will miss that point, though?
