I think we’re talking about more than just fear of violence, here.
Society can provide its members reasonably good defenses against violence. And, in the event that society is not legally allowed to do so, I suppose the government can, though obviously (at least, I hope obviously) not nearly as well.
However, in these post-modern, non-judging, all-things-are-equal politically correct times, the thing that cannot be defended against is the immediately assumed innate moral superiority of those who use violence: assuming, of course, that the violence is directed at white westerners or their proxies and stooges, and those doing the directing are members of a non-white, non-western Officially Designated Victim Group(tm). When I add the usual socialist BS from the left to this, I think I can distill its philosophy to the smallest nugget: we all deserve to die for the (mostly imaginary) sins of our leaders and ancestors, but while we’re waiting, we all deserve a free lunch.
… all of these idiots falling over themselves to make concessions to political correctness make me think of some walled city, where the citizens decide to rape and pillage themselves, hoping the barbarians laying siege will call it a day and go home, appeased.
