Despite Cindy Sheehan leaving Crawford, lots of people are still hanging around- in places like the “Peace House“- protesting.
I watched news report after news report, video after video of the protests, and was………freaked out. Why you ask? Was it the strong arguments they bring agaist the Iraq war? Their willingness to stay the course (to steal a phrase from W)? Their passion? No……
It was the utter sixtiesishness of it all.
Camera pans crowd, focuses in on 50/60 something woman banging on bongos reciting peace poetry. Next location, 50/60 something folk singer singing anti war balads in front of 50/60 something crowd. The protester soundbites and quotes were a replay of 4o years ago just with a whole lot of grey. Talk of togetherness and the wonderful community they are creating in the various tent cities.
Its the 21st century folks. Smelly, birkenstock clad trubadors didn’t win any mainstream support in the 60’s, why in hell do you think its going to now?
I’m not alone- See Ann Althouse’s comments.

Got one of those return key-less keyboards?
OK, snarkiness aside, yes: all these fuckups should be greatful to Bush for giving them the opportunity to relive their pathetic childhoods (previously only possible via acid-flashback) and remind the world just how lucky we’ll all be when this useless collection of idiots goes the way of the dodo. I’d been thinking that advances in medical technology and longevity can’t come fast enough…
but maybe they can.
Bite me.
