About the Sphere:
The spheres are made of two laminations of wood strips over laminated wood frames.The outside surface is then covered with clear fiberglass and finished. The result is a beautiful and very tough skin. The skin is waterproof and strong enough to take the impacts that come with life in a dynamic environment such as the forest. The interior of the sphere is as big as a camper. It is finished like a fine yacht. There is a double bed, counter, table and bench seats as well as ample storage lockers. The spheres are wired for 110 volt AC and equipped with lights and outlets.The spherical contour of the skin makes the shell light and hard, like a ping pong ball. The interior also focusses sound and energy. A very pleasant experience. The spheres can be used for activities such as: accomodation, forest canopy studies, game viewing and meditation. Access to the sphere is via a suspended spiral stairway (wrapped around a tree) and short suspension bridge. Extending stairways and suspension bridges allows access to more of the canopy.
