Do you listen to The Shins, Cake, Apples in Stereo, Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips (not new, but still out there), Augie March, New Pornographers, The Sea & Cake, Built To Spill, Modest Mouse, Fountains of Wayne, etc.?? Promise Ring, The Microphones... er... others I can't recall right now. By listening to enough new music you'll keep the old stuff out of consciousness enought that you won't be tempted to watch VH1.
